I’m using Avid Studio to create videos in full 1080p HD and my little computer gets pretty clunky when I’m working with titles and tweened transformations. So, I went to NewEgg and put together a wish list for a kit.

Since I’m dreaming here, I picked out the best processor for my task, which is an Intel i7-990X — it’s older, but has six cores.
I also used solid state drives, two 60gb jobbers for a parallel RAID 0 configuration. Those will store data at an unbelievably fast rate — striping data across both for 120gb of storage. The operating system and working files will be on that array.
To store video, I needed more space, so I put in three regular 1tb drives in RAID 5 for fault tolerance. Together that will be a 2tb array.
I also picked out the perfect monitor. It’s a 3D monitor.
That was fun to do. I was waiting for Avid Studio a lot today anyway.
