Dear Angry Atheist

You make fun of others whom you believe cahoot with imaginary friends.

Consider the confidence you enjoy because you think you have the support of your earthly friends.

Perhaps you got that job because your buddy said you could do it, that you were right for the job.  So, you held your head up, smiled, and nailed the interview.

The confidence you felt wasn’t due to your friend carrying you on his shoulders into that interview.  You didn’t get the job because your friend used his fingers to press your face into a happy shape.

The confidence you felt was generated because of your feelings about yourself, prompted by your friend’s reminder of your skills and qualifications.  You were confident your friend would still be your friend if you didn’t get the job.

Even if your friend was imaginary, he still helped.

You’re angry for all the right reasons, probably.  I hope it would help you to remember that you’re angry with religion, not God.

Religions are built by people and some people just aren’t that in touch with God no matter how hard they try.

Does God control you?  If not, then how can he be held responsible for what you do, even if it’s in His name.

He doesn’t care if you don’t capitalize his pronouns.

He’s a friend of yours, like me.
