I just made the mistake of updating one of my customer’s WordPress themes, ignoring the warning that doing so would nuke any of the customizations I had made for her.
Before installing Rackspace Cloud’s backup service, I was using whole server images to backup that server. My options would have been: (1) Try to do the customizations again, or (2) restore the whole server image to a new server instance, then pull out the files I needed.
Since I have cloud backup, I was able to just restore this morning’s version of her files.
Rackspace Cloud’s backup is not only more convenient and keeps at least 60 days of incremental changes of files, it saves costs over server images because the backup require less space. My backup space is about 33% of the size of an image of that server.
