It was determined that it’s more important for people to have an avenue over which to not believe, so the message is embedded in fiction.
Telling people, “This is true,” is the surest way for them not to buy it. For instance, telling people there is a force that binds all living things is crazy talk, but Star Wars is history.
A force is simply defined as an accounting for the behavior of interactions between things. The pressure with which an electron wants to go where it’s going is called an electron volt, a measure of the electromagneticforce.
But the force itself is completely unseen. The reason for it, they think, might be explained by string theory, but otherwise the well whence it runs and the reasons it runs are still mysteries. We just know what it does by what we have observed, we don’t know the why.
You have faith in the electromagnetic force.
Additionally, it is a fact that all living things respond to the presence of other living things in one way or another. All living things respond to elements and molecules in one way or another. So, The Force is an extension, on a much a larger end of the scale, of tiny forces like electromagnetism all added up into huge piles of The Force.
The cumulative power of electromagnetism is great. Just try putting your hand through your desk. But, just a few human beings can overpower the electromagnetism holding the desk together. We accumulate more of The Force than the desk when we work together.
The Force does as we ask it – we’re able to direct the use of The Force unlike simple elements and molecules can. They simply do what they must, we do what we want.
