I’m not really sure I should bother writing about this because I might be helping Pastor Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, KS spread his message.
On second thought, the more his message is spread the more damage he does to his own cause, so let’s light up.
This church protests at all kinds of places including the funerals of our fallen military people. They do this, they say, because… (from their website):
Perceiving the modern militant homosexual movement to pose a clear and present danger to the survival of America, exposing our nation to the wrath of God as in 1898 B.C. at Sodom and Gomorrah, WBC has conducted 44,535 such demonstrations since June, 1991, at homosexual parades and other events, including funerals of impenitent sodomites (like Matthew Shepard) and over 400 military funerals of troops whom God has killed in Iraq/Afghanistan in righteous judgment against an evil nation.
In other words, America is completely screwed because God is angry that we tolerate homosexuality, they say.
WBC was recently in McAlister, Oklahoma protesting outside a funeral when someone slashed their tires.
According to WBC’s blog, Godsmack, the All Mighty retaliated quickly against two 18-year-old Oklahoma girls.

I think it’s more likely that this organization is run by people looking for attention and trying to put a stake in the heart of religion. Or, they’re just nuts.
